Meghan Markle once invited pop star Taylor Swift to appear on her now-defunct podcast Archetypes .
Taylor Swift, 33, declined the invitation, according to The Wall Street Journal , and didn’t even bother to respond. Instead, a representative declined on her behalf. This could be seen as insulting to the Duchess of Sussex – Meghan Markle.
Any chance of Taylor Swift re-joining Archetypes seems unlikely, as Meghan Markle, 41, announced earlier this month that she and her husband, Prince Harry, were parting ways with Spotify, her podcast streaming company, just three years after signing a $20 million deal.
An insider told The Post that despite Archetypes topping the charts last year, the pair weren’t producing enough content to justify the hefty paychecks they were receiving.
In a joint statement, Spotify and Archewell Audio said they “agreed to part ways and are proud of the series we created together.”
Finding guests for the former Suits star’s podcast has always been problematic.
“Meghan would often ask for changes very late in the editing process, sometimes calling Spotify’s senior executives, including then-chief content officer Dawn Ostroff, and then calling producers and pushing them to make changes,” according to The Post .
Additionally, Spotify executives were consistently frustrated with the amount of time it took Meghan Markle to come up with the idea for Archetypes and then rally everyone to produce it.
Meanwhile, Prince Harry, 38, struggled to come up with ideas for his own podcast.
Prince Harry, founder of the Invictus Games (an international sporting competition for wounded servicemen and women, first held in 2014), was looking for a topic about veterans but couldn’t find a convincing way to tackle it in podcast form.
Harry is also said to have suggested interviewing Vladimir Putin, Donald Trump and Mark Zuckerberg about their childhood traumas.
The Duke of Sussex’s bizarre concept has left executives baffled, according to a previously published Bloomberg article .
