Queen Camilla shared a touching connection to the Great Western Hospital in Swindon during her visit to officially open its newly transformed emergency department – and it involves her grandchildren.
The hospital holds personal significance for Queen Camilla as her family have made visits there over the years.
Queen Camilla shares update on her grandchildren as she visits hospital
During her visit, the queen candidly revealed that her family remains closely linked to the hospital, particularly its Accident & Emergency department.
“I know quite a lot about you,” she told staff with a smile. “You’ve treated a lot of my family. My daughter will often call me saying, ‘Guess where I am?’
I have had very good feedback because I have had friends who come here and grandchildren who have been here on several occasions.
“And I get a picture of a thumb sticking up at an odd angle, or a leg. I know what a nice place it is and what great care you take of people.”
Camilla is a proud grandmother to five grandchildren, including Laura’s children – Eliza, 17, and 15-year-old twins, Gus and Louis.
Her son Tom Parker Bowles shares two children, Lola and Freddy, with his former wife Sara Buys.
All three of Camilla’s grandsons – Louis, Gus, and Freddy – played a prominent role as Pages of Honour during her coronation alongside King Charles in May 2023.
Camilla’s visit to Great Western Hospital
The queen’s visit marked the completion of a near-£35 million transformation of the hospital’s emergency department.
She toured the state-of-the-art facilities, met with hospital staff and even spent a few moments with therapy dog Fenton.
During her tour, she praised the new unit and the team behind its success.
“I am so impressed by this A&E,” Camilla gushed. “I have had very good feedback because I have had friends who come here and grandchildren who have been here on several occasions.”
She added: “I really wanted to congratulate everybody who has done such a brilliant job with this place and everyone who is working here. I do know from first-hand experience the difference you are making to this part of the country. So, congratulations to you all.”
Following her visit to the hospital, the queen stopped at Prospect Hospice in Wroughton, which is celebrating its 45th anniversary.
The hospice provides the only dedicated end-of-life care service for people in north-east Wiltshire, free of charge.
Addressing staff and supporters in a quick speech, Camilla expressed her admiration for their vital work.
Queen Camila could face ‘health troubles’
Meanwhile, in other royal family news, British psychic Craig Hamilton-Parker, dubbed the ‘new Nostradamus’, has made predictions for the royal family in 2025.
Craig claims to have foreseen events like Covid-19, Queen Elizabeth II’s death, and Brexit.
He shared his insights in an interview with Metro.
“It is looking good for Charles this year, but Camilla will experience more health troubles,” Craig predicted.
Camilla, who battled a chest infection and pneumonia last year, could face further challenges.
Time will tell how these forecasts unfold for the royal family in the year ahead.
