Prince Harry never makes a decision without referring to Diana’s spirit, expert claims

Prince Harry has always spoken fondly about his mother, the late Diana, Princess of Wales, and has not been shy about sharing the impact her 1997 death had on him as a young boy. While he has had to spend his teenage and adult years without her by his side, it is believed Harry, 40, still shares a close bond with his mum.

As well as feeling her presence with him, it is believed Harry consults his mum on important decisions even though she is no longer around. Speaking previously to the Daily Mirror’s royal podcast Pod Save the Queen, now renamed Pod Save the King, famed royal biographer Andrew Morton said he thinks the prince, who quit royal life in 2020, seeks his mother’s advice during tough times.

He said: “I think that Diana’s influence has lasted longer than anybody thought because her torchbearers in life, William and Harry, have not forgotten her and have held concerts in her memory.

“Harry himself says that he never makes a decision without referring it to her in a spiritual sense.

“She marked a turning point in the way the Royal Family behaved and through her behaviour helped to modernise and make more human the royal family.”

Harry himself said similar in a series of interviews with Oprah Winfrey for five-part AppleTV+ series The Me You Can’t See.

Speaking about his late mother, Prince Harry once said he believes Diana helped him set up his life in California with his wife Meghan Markle, 43, and Prince Archie. The interview was done before Harry and Meghan’s daughter Princess Lilibet, three, had been born.

Harry said at the time in 2021: “Not only do I know that she’s incredibly proud of me, but that she’s helped me get here.

“And I’ve never felt her presence more than I have over the last year. I wish she could have met Meghan. I wish she was around for Archie.”

Like his brother Prince William, Harry is believed to have pictures of Diana around his home, with his children aware of their grandmother despite having never met her.
