Piers Morgan confirms Good Morning Britain return four years after storming off set

Piers Morgan is set to return to Good Morning Britain nearly four years after his infamous walkout. The 59 year old TalkTV presenter revealed the news on social media, stating: “BREAKING: It’s been nearly 4yrs (1,453 days to be precise! ) since I departed ⁦@GMB rather hastily… but tomorrow morning, for the first time, I’m going back. I’ll be on with @susannareid100 and @edballs at 8.15am.”

The announcement sparked a mixed reaction from fans, with some expressing excitement and others criticism, reports the Express. One user commented: “Going back to do what? Thought you said that channel is part of the woke MSM so you won’t be a part ever again.”

Another suggested: “They should start with you walking back in with that same suit and then taking one of the seats you used to sit in.” A fan wrote: “Make sure you flex on your compared ratings! Their loss clearly!” Meanwhile, a critic moaned: “Ah, fantastic. Piers back on GMB after 1,453 days – because clearly, Britain hasn’t been punished enough this week.”

Piers’ return comes after his dramatic exit in March 2021, following a heated argument with weather presenter Alex Beresford over Meghan Markle. Beresford remarked: “I understand that you don’t like Meghan Markle, you’ve made it so clear a number of times on this programme, and I understand you’ve got a personal relationship with Meghan Markle and she cut you off. She’s entitled to cut you off if she wants to. Has she said anything about you since she cut you off? I don’t think she has but yet you continue to trash her…” Subsequently, Piers left the set abruptly, stating: “OK, I’m done with this, sorry, no, can’t do this.”

Alex condemned Piers’ departure as “pathetic” and “diabolical”, and following the incident, Piers announced he was leaving his role as host.

He secured a new opportunity at rival broadcaster TalkTV. After Piers’ exit, Beresford reflected: “I’m sorry but Piers spouts off on a regular basis and we all have to sit there and listen, 6.30 to seven o’clock yesterday was incredibly hard to watch, incredibly hard to watch. This is, you know, he has the ability to come in here and talk from a position where he doesn’t fully understand.”

In a tweet, Beresford expressed: “I wish I had the privilege to sit on the fence. In order for me to do that I would have to strip myself of my identity and that’s not something I can do. It’s not any of our places to pick apart claims of racism in order to make us to feel more comfortable.”
