Pauley Perrette, best known for her role as Abby Sciuto on the hit TV show NCIS, has had a long and successful career. After leaving the show following some disagreements, she now focuses on comedy and helping both people and animals in need. But her journey hasn’t been without challenges.
Saying Goodbye to Abby Sciuto
Leaving a character she had played for over a decade wasn’t easy for Perrette. She felt saddened by the thought of a world without Abby in it. In an interview, she expressed her grief, admitting that she would often cry in her car before and after work. But despite the sadness, she cherished the time she spent on NCIS and the impact the character had on young women interested in science and math.
A Rocky Road and a New Beginning
In 2019, Perrette made it clear that she would never return to NCIS and expressed fear towards lead actor Mark Harmon. However, series boss Steven D Binder hinted at a possible future return for Perrette’s character, acknowledging her legacy on the show.
Today, Perrette is back on CBS starring in the comedy show Broke. She is grateful for the network’s continued support and considers her co-star Michael Weatherly as her brother.
Philanthropic Endeavors
Perrette’s passion for helping others extends beyond her acting career. She has created scholarships for female students majoring in criminal justice and advocates for more women to pursue careers in science and math. Additionally, she is an animal lover and supports various animal causes.
A Close Call: Perrette’s Massive Stroke
On September 2, Perrette shared some chilling news on social media. She revealed that she had suffered a “massive” stroke one year earlier and expressed her gratitude for surviving such a traumatic event. In an interview, she detailed the terrifying moment she woke up with no feeling on the entire right side of her body, leading to an immediate trip to the emergency room. Today, she is doing well and wants to raise awareness about strokes and the importance of seeking medical help immediately.
A Private Life Behind the Scenes
While Perrette gained a strong fanbase through her role on NCIS, she has maintained a strict private life outside the spotlight. Her marriage to musician Coyote Shivers ended in divorce, with Perrette obtaining a permanent restraining order against him due to stalking. She also had another engagement that did not lead to marriage.
Now, Perrette embraces her independence and doesn’t feel the need for a romantic partner. She does what makes her happy and considers it a rad decision.
Through all the ups and downs, Pauley Perrette continues to inspire with her resilience, talent, and philanthropy. We wish her the best and hope to see her back on our screens soon.
