Meghan’s resounding success has been celebrated by her friends in stark contrast to the attitude of royal experts.
After a quiet summer, Meghan Markle is officially relaunching with a new product, opening a podcast series called “Archetypes”, talking about the things that hold women back.
Meghan’s first podcast guest was her best friend, tennis player Serena Williams. International media reported that after 2 days of airing, Meghan’s podcast officially dethroned Joe Rogan to become the number 1 trending show on Spotify.
“The Joe Rogan Experience,” Joe Rogan’s flagship show on Spotify, is regularly at No. 1, but now it’s taking a backseat to Meghan’s “Archetypes.”
NBC journalist Mike Sington said that Meghan Markle’s podcast has an estimated audience of 10 million people. Many of Meghan’s close friends shared the good news on social media. It is known that the Duchess of Sussex will interview singer Mariah Carey on the next episode of the podcast.
Why is Meghan’s new product so hot?
Meghan’s new podcast is a product that the media and public have been waiting for for nearly 2 years after the duchess delayed its production. Eagerness and curiosity are the common feelings of many people when welcoming this new podcast.
Meghan has succeeded in launching a new podcast without warning, making everyone curious to see what the duchess will talk about? Will she continue to criticize the royal family?
In a short clip about the new product, Meghan said that what she shared on the podcast was completely unfiltered, it was all honest sharing from the Duchess’s heart. In the 57-minute program, there were 5 contents that attracted the most attention from the media and the public, revealing many things about Meghan and the British royal family.
1. Fire in Archie’s bedroom
In the new podcast, Meghan recounted the moment she was left “shaken” and “in tears” as flames erupted from the fireplace in her son’s bedroom. The Sussexes were on tour in South Africa at the time and baby Archie was just over four months old.
After finishing her speech to women and girls in Nyanga, Meghan was informed that there was a fire in baby Archie’s room. Fortunately, the fire was discovered in time and extinguished shortly after. It is worth noting that Meghan emphasized that after the horrific incident, she could not be with her child and still had to carry out other royal duties with her husband.
2. Letter from 11 years old
Meghan opened her podcast by recalling a meaningful event in her life when she was 11 years old.
The Duchess recalled: ” I was in sixth grade and my whole class was watching TV. An ad for dishwashing liquid came on and said ‘women all over America are struggling with greasy pots and pans’. I was so angry because the ad assumed that only women were doing the dishes, but what about men? “
Meghan then wrote to the producers, civil rights attorney Gloria Allred, former First Lady Hillary Clinton and Nick News host Linda Ellerbee to change the wording of the ad. The dishwashing liquid company eventually replaced the word “women” with “people.”
The royal bride said it was a moment of “triumph” and an “awakening” that helped her understand that there are millions of big and small ways that society can make women equal and fair to men.
3. “Ambition” is a negative word for women.
Meghan and Serena’s conversation then turned to the topic of “ambition.” The Duchess shared: ” I never felt the negative connotation behind the word ‘ambition’ until I started dating my now husband.
And, apparently ambition is, well… a terrible thing for a woman – according to some people. So I felt the negativity behind it, which is really hard to feel .”
Serena agrees with Meghan, whenever women have ambitions or goals to achieve, they are often talked about in a negative way.
4. Serena’s daughter was injured the night before her match.
Speaking about balancing her tennis career with motherhood, Serena shared a past story about her 4-year-old daughter breaking her wrist the night before an important match.
That night, her daughter Olympia fell off her chair and broke her wrist, requiring hospitalization. The tennis queen held her all night and rocked her to sleep. Serena only slept for 30 minutes. The next day, she competed as usual and won a resounding victory.
Despite defeating her opponent, Serena did not feel happy, she was almost exhausted physically and mentally. Meghan said that people forgot about the other women who have other vocations behind the scenes.
