King Charles news, the monarch has expressed his sadness over the Washington DC air collision that took place last week.
The monarch, 76, released a statement paying tribute to the victims at the weekend.
What happened in the Washington DC air collision?
Last week, an American Airlines plane collided with a military helicopter above Washington DC, leaving 67 people dead.
The collision happened half a mile away from the runway at the Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport. Following the collision, both aircrafts fell into the Potomac River.
Among the passengers on the flight from Wichita, Kansas were figure skaters, coaches and their family members. Former world champion Russian skaters and coaches Evgenia Shishkova and Vadim Naumov were on board.
The US Army confirmed that the military helicopter involved had been on an army training drill. The copter crew consisted of Chief Warrant Officer Andrew Eaves, 39, Staff Sergeant Ryan O’Hara, 28, and 28-year-old Captain Rebecca Lobach.

Following the heartbreaking news, King Charles released a statement expressing his sadness over the news.
“My family and I have been profoundly shocked and saddened by the dreadful news of the tragic air accident in Washington DC, which has led to such a devastating loss of life,” he said.
“Our hearts, and our special thoughts, are with the people of the United States and our deepest sympathy goes to the families and loved ones of all the victims,” he continued.

Meanwhile, other lead figures have shared statements on the tragedy.
UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer said in a statement: “I am deeply shocked by the tragic scenes coming out of Washington D.C.
“My thoughts are with all those on board and their families desperately waiting for news. I pay tribute to the emergency services for their dedicated work in such challenging conditions and I send the UK’s condolences to the United States at this time.”
