Inside Susan Lucci’s Home with Ceiling Decor That Was a ‘Gift’ from Her Husband: ‘He Took My Breath Away’

Despite having one of the busiest careers in Hollywood, talented Actress and Dancer, Susan Lucci was blessed with a loving husband who knew how best to make her smile. He once gifted her ceiling decorations for their exquisite ocean-view home.

Susan Lucci’s bright smile and baby doll voice made her performances sensational. The “All My Children” star also had an exciting love life involving her husband of more than five decades.

Lucci met the Austrian-born Helmut Huber before becoming a TV star. She worked as a waitress in Golden City Hotel, where Huber was the hotel’s chef and head of the food and beverage service.

At first, they were friends, even though they were attracted to each other. At the time, the waitress was engaged, and her parents invited Huber to the engagement party.

Eventually, things changed, and their friendship blossomed into a connection that stood the test of time. The couple tied the knot in 1969 and remained married until Huber’s death. They supported and loved each other unconditionally throughout their marriage, as expected from a real power couple.

Huber worked closely with his wife, becoming her manager. He also maintained his passion for cooking as an extended chef while running Pine Valley Productions.

Apart from being a supportive husband looking out for his wife’s career, Huber is noted for saving her life. In 2019, Lucci dealt with seasonal chest pain, which she often made excuses for and dismissed.

Eventually, after seeing a doctor, she realized that her heart was in danger and had to be scheduled for heart surgery. Thankfully, after a full recovery, Lucci felt lucky about her sound health, especially since she had a shoulder to lean on.

The dancer admitted that she never gave much concern to her health; instead, she was consumed with work. However, Lucci wanted to share her story to inspire her audience to pay attention to the most subtle body discomfort.

Since then, Lucci has experienced sound health and manages to look youthful at 76. Her husband also enjoyed a sound mind and health until his death in March 2022. The Austrian native died peacefully in Long Island, New York. He was 84 years old, survived by his radiant wife, their two kids, his two kids from a former marriage, and his grandkids.

Lucci is grieving her long-term partner and has asked the public for some privacy. Upon his death, his family released an official statement labeling him a family man and a loyal friend. Before his passing, Huber saw his two kids with Lucci grow into successful and responsible adults.

Their daughter, Liza Huber, now 48, inherited her mother’s acting skills. Like the veteran, she began her acting career as a young lady in the soap opera “Passions,” which ran for nearly a decade.

After that, she married and started a family. Liza has four sons: Royce, Brendan, Hayden, and Mason. In addition to looking after her family, the mother of four also runs a business known as “Sage Spoonfuls.”

Her younger brother, Andreas, represents his “Locality Media” brand but is also a golf lover like papa! Andreas’ love for golf helped his school’s team to the championship.

During his time at Georgetown University, he won the Big East Championship for himself and the team. Before retiring to entrepreneurship, he played for the Canadian PGA Tour and European Challenge Tour.

Lucci’s Paradise, Where She Created Memories with Huber

Lucci and Huber spent most of their years in a 10,622-square-foot residence that sits on 1.4 acres with an ocean view. In this magnificent residence, they created memories that could last a lifetime.

The property, estimated at $20 million, was a custom-built house in Quogue in 1989. Eugene Futterman, the architect, employed the Shingle Style design standard in the area but added some unique features.

During her feature on “Open House TV” five years ago, the “All My Children” actress treated her interviewer to a warm and cheerful atmosphere. Lucci opened up her castle-like home which featured a striking glow from the lighting within the home. Then, the women headed to the room where visitors often gathered.

It showcased a center rug, tabletop decorations, a few pieces of paintings, neatly arranged chairs with wooden legs and fine cushions/ pillows, and a center table that matched the chandelier.

While moving around the house, the actress explained that the brightness was from natural light, as the house possesses uncovered double-height windows. Their decision to leave the window bare was simple. She said, “We didn’t want to put anything on the window. We didn’t want to do anything to distract from that beautiful view.”

The couple was impressed with the brightness that they brought a little of it inside the house, giving it a more homely feel. Lucci revealed that she was away when her husband contracted an artist to paint the ceiling with soft colors, portraying the coolness of the sky.

Her husband’s surprising yet outstanding gift was this sweet painting with a magnificent chandelier draping below. In her words, “I went away to do a movie for TV, I came home, and Helmut had an artist come in and paint all of that on the ceiling. He took my breath away.”

Lucci’s home also has a spacious dining room with green and white floor marble derived from her inspiration from Scandinavian drawings and pictures of the house’s era.

The dining room holds about twelve to fourteen people, and its large glass doors offer diners the chance to resume outside on a patio when swung open.

Another fascinating feature of this building is its library, laced with an animal-like print floor design, cushion chairs, high bookshelves, and a lovely reading atmosphere for winter: there is a fireplace.

There is also a mature-looking dressing room, spacious with the right amount of light peeping in through the large windows overlooking a blue water pool.

Lucci’s heavenly abode has seven rooms and seven and a half baths. The master bedroom grants an overwhelming ocean view with its center-pleat curtains.

Indeed, this home provides the right atmosphere for the welcome needed by a busy woman like Lucci. Although the property was put on sale, it holds a special place in her heart since this was where she created lots of memories with her heartthrob.

The home that Lucci now lives in has gone through a few renovations. The dancer shared a glimpse of the process on her Instagram and revealed that she was getting new countertops for her all-white kitchen.

Lucci also showed people taking out furniture and making space for new pieces. The actress was over the moon about the new updates she was adding to her home.
