Danny Dyer’s was ‘censored’ twice during live coverage of this year’s Brit Awards, with the actor’s foul mouthed outbursts leaving viewers confused and host Jack Whitehall horrified, over the use of one particular ‘banned’ word.
The first time Danny, who attended the O2 Arena with his two daughters, was on the mic was to hand out the trophy for International Song of the Year, with him prompting plenty of chuckles from fans at home when he pronounced winner Chappell Roan’s name wrong. But it what came next that led to the bleep button being pressed, as he ranted about the Good Luck Babe singer not being there to accept the award, as the audio was cut for a few seconds.
Just minutes later, cameras fell onto Danny for a second time, as Brits host Jack Whitehall joined him at his table in the middle of the arena to talk about his new movie Marching Powder, which is out next week. In fairness, Danny did suggest that he ‘wouldn’t be allowed’ to talk about, as he looked at his watch to check it was past the 9pm watershed.
After being egged on by Jack to say what he wanted, ITV viewers watching at home heard him describe it as ‘like Bridget Jones’ before the audio feed was then cut again, before returning as Jack scalded the ex EastEnders actor, telling him: “You can’t say that word!”
Proud West Ham supporter Danny, whose daughter Dani is engaged to Hammer’s star Jarrod Bowen, then risked angering Arsenal fans, as he took aim at the club and their chances of winning the Premier League rapidly slipping away.
There was further confusion from the many people who tuned into this year’s Brits, when they kept spotting a woman dressed as a horse at his table, with Jack himself mentioning her as he confessed to having no idea who she was or why she was there.
