A crypto gambler took his own life live on social media after losing $500 (£386) on a memecoin investment.
Arnold Haro was livestreaming on Twitter when he put a gun to his head and pulled the trigger several times until it went off. During the video, he had made a desperate bid to his followers, asking them “if I die, I hope you guys make this into a memecoin”.
Users on Elon Musk’s platform said the video remained live for 30 minutes after the man shot himself. Tragically, anxious viewers were seen asking the streamer if he was okay in the comment section. Within moments, meme coins using his name had reportedly flooded the market.
Initially there was mystery over the streamer’s identity, whose username was @MistaFuccYou. Bitcoin Protocol later confirmed it was Haro, a 23-year-old father-of-one.
Haro reportedly suffered with depression (

On a GoFundMe set up to support Haro’s family, a loved one wrote: “It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we share the passing of Arnold Robert Haro, a beloved father, son, brother, significant other, and dear friend to so many.
“On February 21, 2025, at just 23 years old, Arnold lost his battle with depression. He leaves behind his 1-year-old daughter, his beloved significant other, his mother and father, and his three sisters, who will forever cherish his memory.”
It went on to call him a “bright, kind and hilarious soul who brought light to those around him. He had a gift for making people laugh, spreading joy, and offering unwavering support, even when he was struggling himself.”
“Although he carried burdens unseen, he always put others before himself, touching countless lives with his generosity and warmth,” the memorial added. “In honor of Arnold’s memory, we are raising funds to help his family cover funeral expenses and ensure that his memory is celebrated in the way he would have wanted.”
“Any donation, no matter how small, is deeply appreciated, ” the statement concluded. “If you are unable to contribute financially, we ask that you help by sharing his story and reminding those around you that they are never alone.”
The fundraiser, which has a goal of $50,000, had raised nearly $22,000 of its $50,000 goal. Some social media users claimed that Haro’s suicide was initially meant to be a viral stunt that spiraled. Due to Haro’s request for the memecoin to be made, there is a likelihood that he would receive some form of financial payout from the developer.
