A 16-year-old boy has died after suffering a fatal knife injury to his neck during a broad daylight attack in Huddersfield town centre. Emergency services rushed to the scene on Ramsden Street, where blood was spattered across the road. Several arrests have already been made in connection with the incident, according to police.
Senior Investigating Officer Detective Chief Inspector Damian Roebuck said: “This is a tragic incident where a young man has lost his life as a result of a knife injury. We have a team of dedicated detectives who are at the scene and investigating this fatal attack.”

Huddersfield MP laments ‘horrific incident’
Posting on X, Harpreet Uppal, Labour MP for Huddersfield, said: “This is a horrific incident and my thoughts are with the young man’s family.
“No one should ever have to go through this.
“I have spoken with the Chief Superintendent this morning & will continue to speak with local partners.
“A man has been arrested in connection with the incident.”
‘People can’t even walk around anymore’
Asked about the attack, one shopper told Yorkshire Live: “It’s disgusting. Poor people can’t even walk around.
“My 15-year-old son goes to Huddersfield shopping and I don’t feel very safe him being in his home town anymore.”
Another member of the public said they had seen two women “kneeling beside the lad covered head to foot in blood”.

Witnesses sought after tragedy
Officers from West Yorkshire Police’s Homicide and Major Enquiry Team have launched a murder investigation and are asking that anyone with information about the incident to contact them by calling 101 or go online at https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/LiveChat quoting reference 13250187301.

Crime scene remains in place
One man has been arrested in connection with the incident.
Another man, and a woman, have also been arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
A scene remains in place around New Street and Ramsden Street as officers establish exactly what took place.
‘Reassurance patrols in the area’
Det Chf Insp Roebuck added: “Our initial investigations do indicate that it was an isolated incident, and local neighbourhood officers are carrying out reassurance patrols in the area.
“I want to thank witnesses who have come forward so far and would urge anyone who witnessed the incident or has information that can help our enquiry to please come forward.”
