A royal expert recently delivered a cutting remark about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s attempts to overshadow Kate Middleton. The two-word response

EXCLUSIVE: A royal expert made a savage comment after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle released a video on the same day as Princess Kate’s appearance.

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were criticised by a royal expert who made a savage two-word comment regarding the timing of the release of their latest video.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s charity, the Archewell Foundation, released its annual impact report earlier this week detailing the couple’s philanthropic efforts throughout the year.

The report was accompanied by a video, and both were published on the same day that the Princess of Wales carried out four engagements with the Amir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, and his wife, Sheikha Jawaher bint Hamad bin Suhaim Al Thani during their state visit to the UK, in what was the first time she held that role since her cancer diagnosis was announced earlier this year.

Royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams was critical of the move and described it as “quite extraordinary” to make news on the same day as Princess Kate’s appearance, in a blunt two-word dig.

He told the Express: “The Sussexes know perfectly well that there is intense media interest in everything they do.”

He added: “However, it is quite extraordinary that they chose [Tuesday] to make news and release this video together with the Archewell Foundation’s accounts.

“They are, after all, still members of the royal family, even though they caused the rift in it. At present, given that the king and Catherine are recovering from cancer, they cannot be critical.

“However, the timing of [the video]’s release sends a message which is far from friendly.”

Harry and Meghan’s video highlighted some of the couple’s most poignant moments during public and private engagements in 2024.

Set to the song A Sky Full Of Stars by Coldplay, the footage featured a voiceover in which Harry thanked others for inspiring him.

In a clip from an event, Meghan said: “When you show up in a community, you find that group that makes you feel like home but oftentimes you also find yourself again.”

Harry could also be heard saying: “Every single one of you inspire me and you inspire us every single day.”

The video showed several moments from Harry and Meghan’s Nigeria and Colombia tours, as well as clips from their trip to Canada earlier this year.

It also showed Meghan cooking with other women during a recent holiday dinner for The Welcome Project.

Other clips included Meghan’s speech at the SXSW Conference in Austin, Texas and Harry’s attendance at the Clinton Global Initiative in New York City this autumn to promote awareness regarding the dangers of social media on children.
