Meghan Markle Has a Special Birthday Tradition She Honors Each Year

Meghan Markle is set to celebrate her 43rd birthday this weekend on August 4 and is likely to be celebrating with Prince Harry and their two young kids, as well as her mum Doria Ragland.

However, the Duchess of Sussex has previously revealed that she also takes some time to herself on her special day as she has one personal birthday ritual which she likes to practice annually.

Before shutting down her well-followed blog, The Tig, in 2017, Meghan used to offer her followers a peek into her life, including her annual reflections and resolutions, OK! reports.

In a heartfelt post from 2016, the same year she began her romance with Prince Harry, the former Suits star revealed: “My mom has always said that birthdays are your own personal New Year.”

She elaborated on her mother’s wisdom, adding: “Your own chance to make resolutions just for yourself and what you prognosticate for your year ahead.”

Meghan then outlined her aspirations for the coming year, expressing a desire for: “More surprises, more adventure, more opportunities to grow, more days filled with giggles and cheeky jokes, more delicious meals, and more inspiration. Always more inspiration.”

At the time of this particular blog entry, Meghan had recently started dating Harry, with their famous third date in Botswana occurring roughly five weeks prior to her birthday.

However, much has now changed for the former actress and although little is known about her 43rd celebration plans, it’s likely she’ll be enjoying a low-key day in the sunshine at her Montecito mansion alongside Harry and their kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet.

Jennie Bond, a former BBC Royal correspondent, speculated to OK! magazine that Meghan is likely to prefer a tranquil day spent with her loved ones.

Prince Archie may even be on birthday waffle duty after the late Queen previously gifted him a waffle maker for Christmas.

In the past, Meghan has traditionally used her birthdays to raise awareness for causes close to her heart. On her 40th birthday, she launched the 40×40 project through a comical video, urging 40 of her friends to commit 40 minutes of their time to supporting women reintegrating into the workforce.

Experts suggest the Duchess strategically uses the public interest generated by these significant occasions for philanthropy.

The theory posits, Meghan is aware that marking milestones such as her birthday drives attention toward her, and she endeavours to leverage this spotlight to shift focus onto matters dear to her.
