Body language expert says Kate Middleton wanted to “avoid stealing the attention” in royal comeback

Kate Middleton’s royal return is by far the most positive news story about the Firm this year. It has been a very challenging few months for its members, not least for King Charles and the Princess of Wales, who both have received cancer treatment.

Kate Middleton appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony alongside her husband and children, and several experts praised her for her return. Moreover, as always, her outfit was branded “, even though one expert had an opinion on the color she wore.

Kate Middleton looked healthy and happy, and now, a body language expert has examined her actions more closely. Even though she was the one people wanted to see, it appeared that Kate had a whole different plan.

In mid-March, Kate Middleton revealed to the world that she had received a shock cancer diagnosis. The Princess of Wales had been outside of the spotlight since January when she underwent abdominal surgery, and conspiracy theories surrounding her health spread quickly online.

While Kate’s cancer diagnosis statement was worrying, the public was finally given some answers as to why she had been kept outside the spotlight for so long. And last week, the princess shared what everyone had waited for.

Kate Middleton makes royal comeback

In a lengthy statement, the Princess of Wales announced that she would attend the Trooping the Colour, her first royal appearance since before her abdominal surgery.

“I have been blown away by all the kind messages of support and encouragement over the last couple of months. It really has made the world of difference to William and me and has helped us both through some of the harder times,” Kate said.

The Princess of Wales continued: “I am making good progress, but as anyone going through chemotherapy will know, there are good days and bad days. On those bad days you feel weak, tired and you have to give in to your body resting. But on the good days, when you feel stronger, you want to make the most of feeling well.”

“My treatment is ongoing and will be for a few more months. On the days I feel well enough, it is a joy to engage with school life, spend personal time on the things that give me energy and positivity, as well as starting to do a little work from home.”

“I’m looking forward to attending The King’s Birthday Parade this weekend with my family and hope to join a few public engagements over the summer, but equally knowing I am not out of the woods yet.”

She concluded: “I am learning how to be patient, especially with uncertainty. Taking each day as it comes, listening to my body, and allowing myself to take this much needed time to heal. Thank you so much for your continued understanding, and to all of you who have so bravely shared your stories with me.”

“She did look healthy,” royal expert says

Kate Middleton wore a white dress with a black bow and a white hat, with her hair in a bun as she waved and smiled at the many royal fans that had gathered for the “birthday” of the monarch.

As always, Kate Middleton’s outfit has generated many positive responses. But though it was undoubtedly an outfit fit for a future queen, royal expert Kinsley Schofield was “surprised” that the princess was wearing white.

“I wondered if she was going to go with the classic Wales blue that the entire family often wears. But she looked beautiful,” she told GB News. “She did look healthy. And if you look at pictures of her from the coronation, it’s the same woman. I felt a lot of relief seeing her today.”

The Princess of Wales appeared on the Buckingham Palace balcony with the other senior royals and her children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis.

Royal fans were overjoyed to see the future queen for the first time in months. Garrison Sergeant Major Andrew told the BBC they discovered that Kate would attend as late as Friday.

“It was really nice to see the Princess of Wales, and the children of course. It made the day even more special,” he said. “We prepared for the princess, just in case,”

“Then we found out [she would be attending] about an hour before the press release went out on Friday.”

Kate Middleton praised for her Trooping the Colour appearance

During her first royal appearance in months, Kate also had to be a mother. She instructed her children on how to act, and it appeared that all the children did a very good job.

Royal expert Michael Cole spoke to GB News, praising the Princess of Wales for her royal comeback. “The King had a good muster of the Royal Family, minus, of course, Prince Harry and Prince Andrew. But he won’t mind, it was his day. But the star of the show was the Princess of Wales,” he said.

The royal expert praised Kate Middleton for her “dignified” appearance in both the parade and on the balcony.

“Such dignity, such elegance, such stoicism and steadfastness, bearing the burden that she’s bearing, bringing up her children so brilliantly,” he continued. “Being a princess, being a wife, being a public figure, and the most popular member of the Royal Family.”

Kate Middleton is already one of the most popular royal family members. According to Cole, this will make her “even more popular.”

Doctors were “paramount” in Kate Middleton’s decision to attend

Although Kate most likely has the final say in whether or not she would attend Trooping the Colour, the royal expert stated that the doctors would have been “paramount” in her decision.

“The doctors would have been paramount in this decision. She would have taken very, very careful advice of the physicians to see whether she could do it,” Michael Cole told GB News.

“I thought at best it would be that she would make an appearance on the balcony. The fact is she’s been sitting there for the whole thing, which is nearly two hours, and she looks great. And I’m quite sure the crowds will think it well worth their while, despite the many who have had a glimpse of her.”

“They’ve been as upfront as they possibly want to be, and they’ve made it sure that everybody else who’s suffering similarly is included.”

While Kate Middleton was the star of the day, it was not her the royal fans were celebrating. Trooping the Colour has been a beloved royal tradition for hundreds of years. The Royal Museums Greenwich states that the event was first started by King George II in 1748.

Although Kate most likely understood that she would be the one people wanted to see most, she made sure not to take too much space.

Body language expert reveals details on Kate’s balcony appearance

Speaking with The Sun, body language expert Judi James said the princess ensured that he remained the focus during the massive royal event.

“In a tradition created by her husband’s granny, Kate’s body language here showed the world what being a royal is all about: elegant, calm, and stoic with not one smallest jot of self-pity or drama,” James said.

“Kate’s non-verbal messages seem to signal a smiling determination to reassure the public and her own children and to get on with the job. She made it clear in her written message that this is a step towards a return, not the start of it but even from the glimpses of her in the carriage her upright back and her signature smile showed a desire to show resilience and poise.”

As mentioned, royal expert Kinsley Schofield was “surprised” that the princess wore a white outfit.

Kate Middleton had a “desire to avoid stealing the attention”

However, Judi James argues that it could have been intentional, as she didn’t want to draw too much attention to herself.

“There was a hint of discretion or maybe a desire to not upstage in the way Kate’s hat brim was tilted to partially hide her face in the carriage but there were some turning to smile and some smiling conversations with her three children,” the body language expert told The Sun.

“Her wave to the crown involved closed rather than spread fingers and it was a quick, subtle movement of acknowledgement, again suggesting a desire to avoid stealing the attention on the celebration of the King’s birthday.”
