The couple transformed the “shabby apartment” into a cozy and comfortable home

The couple’s remarkable journey from a shabby apartment to a cozy and comfortable home is inspiring. Discover their transformation story and get inspired!

It was decided to buy property in an old two-level house built in 1949. When the owner entered the apartment, pictures of the future interior immediately flashed before her eyes. Of course, the rooms required major renovations, but the couple could not be stopped.

Kitchen area

The space was separated from the living room and the hallway. But we changed everything: the premises were combined with a room, and the hall was simply removed. It was decided to abandon the gas stove and install a compact electric model.

The walls were treated with a special coating that is resistant to moisture and cleaning agents. Porcelain tiles were laid on the floor, which imitates terrazzo. The same material was also used to finish the apron.

On the right, a kitchen set with pale mint-colored facades was installed. Built-in cabinets and appliances fit in a niche near the window.

Living-dining room

The room has three functions:

  • receiving guests;
  • dining room for the whole family;
  • bedroom for parents.

Immediately upon entering the room, a round table and stylish chairs were installed. The couple received old parquet from the previous owners, which was preserved and restored.

In the corner there was an area for reading and playing the guitar. Wardrobes were placed on the opposite side.

Since we changed the layout of the apartment, we were able to find a place for a bedroom. In a niche of 4.5 m² they placed a full-size double bed and a small storage cabinet.

Children’s zone

A separate room was given to my daughters. The accent of the room is a light bunk bed that resembles a tree house.

The interior was complemented with spacious, light-colored cabinets. They made a large work area near the window for two girls.

Guest bathroom

They did it near the front door. To decorate the walls, light tiles with a black pattern and green paint were used. It was even possible to install a miniature sink for convenience.

Bathroom

For wall cladding, we selected snow-white “hog” tiles and green paint for contrast. We even managed to install a toilet. The room is narrow, but due to the window and well-chosen design, the bathroom turned out to be bright and cozy. The highlight of the interior is a snow-white cast-iron bathtub with legs.
