Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have caused further controversy this week after the release of Meghan’s Netflix show. On Tuesday, “With Love, Meghan” aired for the first time, with one comment made by the Duchess of Susses, 43, taking royal fans by surprise. When talking to her friend Mindy Kaling on one of the episodes, Meghan points out that she no longer goes by the surname Markle but instead uses the name Sussex – a nod to the royal title she was given after marrying Prince Harry in 2018.
However, this annoyed several royal fans who believe Meghan should not be using her royal title, especially as they quit life as senior royals five years ago. While nothing has been by the Royal Family about Harry or Meghan having their Sussex titles potentially taken from them, The Mail said that this was once considered.
A royal source reportedly told The Mail that the Royal Family have considered a potential sanction which could be enforced if Harry and Meghan publicly slam Harry’s royal relatives again. It is believed an Act of Parliament would be needed to take the Sussex title away from the couple.
This comes after the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have criticised the family in the past by making damaging allegations, starting with their 2021 TV interview with Oprah Winfrey.
They then made more critical comments in the Netflix docuseries Harry and Meghan in 2022, followed by Harry’s memoir Spare in 2023.

In her new Netflix show, Meghan did not mention the Royal Family and instead spoke about her present life in Montecito as she cooked and hosted for several celebrity friends.
Despite being solely Meghan’s show, Prince Harry did make a brief appearance in the final episode at a brunch to celebrate his wife’s upcoming business ventures, including her brand As Ever.
It is believed that the Royal Family wanted the show to be a success so the couple would not revert back to being openly critical of their previous royal lives.
