5 bombshell Meghan Markle claims in new royal book – Prince William ‘flirting gossip’ to ‘true feelings’ about Kate

A series of claims have been made about Meghan Markle in a new royal book, releasing this month.

From reported affectionate behaviour towards Prince William which ‘deepened’ his alleged rift with Prince Harry to her apparent true feelings about Princess Kate, the book is expected to drop some bombshells.

Let’s take a look at the top claims regarding the Duchess of Sussex.

1. Prince William ‘uncomfortable’ with Meghan Markle’s ‘hugging and cheek-kissing’

The upcoming royal book claims Meghan was affectionate towards Prince William, which deepened his and Prince Harry’s rift.

Royal author and journalist Tom Quinn has detailed the claims in his book – Yes Ma’am: The Secret Life of Royal Servants, which comes out on February 18, 2025.

The tense atmosphere caused by all the touchy-feeliness deepened the rift between the brothers.

In an extract published in The Times, the author explained that Meghan’s alleged behaviour caused gossip within staff members.

He said that “hugging and cheek-kissing” with Prince William “fuelled gossip among the staff that Meghan was flirting”.

While Quinn enforces that she “was obviously not” doing that, he does admit the outcome created an unwanted dynamic.

He said: “The tense atmosphere caused by all the touchy-feeliness (and the resultant gossip) deepened the rift between the brothers.”

2. Meghan thought Princess Kate was a ‘goody two shoes’

Elsewhere, the book details Meghan’s apparent first impressions of her now sister-in-law Kate.

One source reportedly told Quinn that Meghan thought Kate was “just too eager to please, too much a goody-two-shoes girl”.

Meanwhile, the insider claimed: “Kate was always happy to accept advice both from the lower staff, with whom she got on very well, and from the courtiers, even though some of them were initially very snooty about her.

“It was the same kind of backbiting gossipy criticism that Meghan had to put up with, but Kate is actually a much stronger person than Meghan in many ways. Yet what Meghan saw as Kate being pushed around, Kate saw as an essential part of being a member of the royal family.”

3. Princess of Wales’ view on Duchess of Sussex detailed in new book

Elsewhere, the source shared some details on what Kate apparently thought about Meghan.

They said: “Kate’s view of Meghan was always implied rather than spoken, I think. It was that Meghan thought she knew better than an institution that had been in business for 1,000 years and more. Kate was never going to buy that.”

4. Meghan Markle ‘hurt’ as members of the royal family ‘flinched at her hugs’

In another claim, some senior members of the royal family ‘flinched’ at Meghan’s hugs.

Quinn said that “tension developed between William and Harry as a result of Meghan’s warm, friendly, hug-everyone approach”.

He claimed that Kate, William and King Charles “tended to flinch” when she moved in for a hug.

This apparently left Meghan “understandably hurt”.

5. Meghan Markle ‘wasn’t always great with her staff’ and had ‘messiah complex,’ book claims

In another claim in the book, a source said that the duchess “wasn’t always great” with her staff.

They explained this was because Meghan “wasn’t used to it as Harry was”. The insider alleged that “one minute she would be really friendly, perhaps overfriendly, hugging staff and trying to make friends with them, and the next she would be irritated by the fact they wouldn’t respond instantly at all times of the day and night”.

The source then claimed that one senior member of staff mumbled that Meghan “should really have been employed in the palace kitchens”.

In addition, one of the couple’s former staffers said Meghan had a “messiah complex” and once said “what Diana started, I want to finish”.

However, Meghan also had her supporters in the book. A former staff member said the duchess “was very straightforward and matter-of-fact,” something many staff admired.
