US President Donald Trump on Washington plane tragedy

Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump said in part of his statement: “I speak to you this morning in an hour of anguish for our nation. Sadly, there are no survivours. We are in mourning, this has really shaken a lot of people.”

The tragedy comes not long after it was claimed that the president is keen on meeting with the king.

The president, 78, is a big fan of the royal family, something the British government is very aware of.

Speaking to the Mirror recently, royal expert Camilla Tominey said the government would be “crazy” not to utilise the royals in a bid to improve relations between the UK and the US.

“[Prince] William has already gone down well with the president, but Trump would probably now hope for a visit by the king,” she added.
