Meghan Markle’s Emotional Bond with Daughter Lilibet Revealed During Nigeria Trip

During a recent trip abroad, Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, shared a touching moment she had with her daughter, Princess Lilibet. This happened during the Sussexes’ three-day visit to Nigeria, their first international trip since stepping back from royal duties.

On May 10, while visiting Lightway Academy in Nigeria, Meghan gave a glimpse into her life as a mom. Talking to kindergarten students, she shared a conversation with her 2-year-old daughter. “Our daughter, Lili, is much smaller than you all,” Meghan said, adding that Lilibet will soon turn three. “A few weeks ago, she looked at me and said, ‘Mama, I see myself in you.’”

Meghan, 42, explained how much those words meant to her. “She was being so literal, but I felt something deeper. I thought, ‘Yes, I see myself in you, and you see yourself in me,’” she said.

Meghan then talked about how she felt a connection with the children at the academy. “When I look at all of you, I see myself in you too,” she said, as she and Prince Harry joined the kids in singing, dancing, and playing games. Meghan added that these activities are also Lilibet’s favorites. “Maybe it’s all the hopping around,” she joked.

Although they value privacy, the Sussexes sometimes share moments from their family life. In February, Prince Harry spoke on Good Morning America about how fast their children are growing and how funny they are. “They make us laugh and keep us grounded every day,” he said. “I’m so grateful to be a dad.”

Meghan’s story about her conversation with Lilibet shows the strong bond in their family. As they balance public and private life, moments like this offer a peek into their personal world. Their recent visit also reflects their commitment to connecting with others while keeping some aspects of their life private.
